Founder of Merry People
Dani grew up on a Victorian farm where gumboots were part of daily life. After moving to the city for study and work, she couldn't find an all-weather boot that suited both her corporate commute and weekends on the farm. Recognising a gap in the market, she began sketching ideas and, with some technical help and a trip to China to meet suppliers, launched Merry People in 2014. She started selling at farmers' markets on weekends and has since grown the brand globally while balancing life as a busy mum and CEO.
The story
Merry People makes stylish, 100% waterproof boots designed for everyday wear, from daily commutes and dog walks to gardening, camping and festivals. Their best-selling styles like the Bobbi and Tully boots are known for quality construction, arch support, neoprene lining, enhanced traction and FSC natural rubber.
Founded in 2014, the brand began at farmers' markets and has grown into a global favourite with over 30,000 five-star reviews. Each pair is hand-crafted by expert rubber boot makers, and the brand runs a recycling program alongside its everyday adventure ethos.
Based in Melbourne with a small team, Merry People aims to demystify the idea that gumboots belong only to rural life, offering joyful colours and contemporary silhouettes for wherever you live.
